After writing my last post...I discovered this video on another fabulous fatblog,
. The perceptions demonstrated in the below video is EXACTLY the negative perceptions I was talking about in my Religion of Perfection Post....Watching this video actually makes me uptight and angry as a FAT Woman.
Its attitudes like Meme Roth's that are shaping our discrimination. I am NOT saying that we shouldn't be healthy, exercise and live long prosperous lives...Well obviously...otherwise I wouldn't be on the weight loss journey that I am on. I do believe we need to look after our bodies and that any ADDICTIONS are 'unhealthy' for us whether it is food, smoking, drugs etc etc. However, for most of us there are medical, sociological or emotional reasons why we are the way we are. Which can't just be fixed by diet or exercise! Lets see some research that gets to the REAL root of our weight problems whether it be medical, social or psychological...instead of just discrediting us as 'a statistic', 'unhealthy', 'or slobs with no discipline or willpower'. What do you think?

When I first heard Meme Roth's opinions, my eyeballs almost touched my computer monitor,so I felt relieved when Kelly Bliss spoke, in fact it was so liberating that I could have burnt my bra if I didn't need the full support.
One of the things that pisses me off the most is an ignorant person. Meme (what a name that is) Roth is the epitome of ignorance. If anything, she needs a few sandwiches or a nice Chocolate shake IV. Not to mention a muzzle for her rude mouth.
Does she have any idea how freakish Jordan would look at a size 10? or 8? She is is a BIG girl. Not fat... Big. She is a tall girl, and in my opinion looks amazing.
As fat as I am, every time I visit a doctor, he tells me how extraordinarily healthy I am.
Thank heaven for Kelly Bliss.
It must be nice to be perfect like MeMe! Yes, there is a ton of sarcasm there!!
Thanks for sharing that :)
I completely understand your frustration after watching the clip. The whole BS about statistics comes from the Skinny people being scared! 60% of Americans being overweight does not mean we have an epidemic as the dirty diet industry would have you believe. It means that norms have changed, as they do through history. I will always be overweight according to the currently used charts. I will not always be unhealthy. Eventually the charts will change and prove my point. I will live long enough to see that day. I am not going to die of heart disease or diabetes before that day arrives. The statistics also suggest that Skinny people are not at risk for such diseases. That is an obvious mis-direction. GRRRRR!
What about all the THIN people who eat crap food and don't exercise and have a "normal" BMI. I suppose they're healthy???? OMG, that woman makes me want to puke.
How many times do I see and hear about people who have heart attacks and are THIN. They EAT BAD but are "healthy" I suppose to Meme
