The War with Food

It seems that every time I step out of my house my senses are being bombarded left right and centre by my enemy number 1...FOOD! Why do I feel like I am constantly at war. I just can't get away from it. Although, I have a strict 'no yummy food in the house' rule, as soon as I venture out from the safe confines of my home and carefully barren kitchen fridge, I am vulnerable, and stepping into 'enemy territory'.

I walk down the street and the smell of freshly baked bread from the local bakery assaults my nostrils. I walk past the cafe and a parade of cakes, slices, biscuits, and all sorts of yummy delights jump up and down, begging me to save them from the rubbish bin (their fate, at the end of the day, if not sold)...I go into the grocery store and even after I have manage to walk past the dairy section, ice cream freezers, chips, and lollies sections I finally get to the counter to purchase my goods and my hand accidentally bumps a packet of chocolate coated turkish delight balls...What's a girl to do?... and then on my way home again I smell, I see, I struggle to conquer.

Dieting would be so much easier if I could just stay home 24/7 and get my carefully ordered groceries delivered there without having to step out. But life's not like that I guess...too easy. so every day I battle this war. Some days I win, some days I don't, but there is always another day and if the worst comes to the worst, the 'Elliptical Trainer' in my parents garage.

I know how you feel. Food seems to be coming from everywhere. It's no wonder there's so many overweight people. I guess the big food companies only make more money, the more food they sell, the higher the profits. Then the weight loss industry makes money on overweight people. It's a vicious cycle. I really think the environment has something to do with it. If we didn't have all this food constantly around us, I'm sure we would eat less.

oh too true. Food surrounds us, advertisements roll around in our subconcious constantly..just like smokers are sueing cigarette companies for addicting them to nicoteine through their advertisements...Perhaps we should start sueing the food companies for addicting us to food..hehehehe
